Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada but grew up in the US. She has worked as media critic since. Feminist Frequency is a channel that hosts videos, comments and an analysis of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has been awarded accolades for her work. She is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a not-for profit website that focuses on female representations in popular stories of culture - was created and is directed by Sarkeesian. The challenge of destroying stereotypes regarding women is her primary goals. But, she also highlights issues related to targeted harassment against women online and for other groups that have been left out. Sarkeesian has a degree in political thought and social theory from York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public speaking. Sarkeesian gave speeches to the TEDxWomen Festival as well as to the United Nations Broadband Working Group. From an early age Sarkeesian was captivated by issues of gender identity as well as feminist ideas. As a student, in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency Website. This ambitious woman planned to create an online series on the role of gender in games but was the target of an online harassment campaign. The attack did have been a hindrance, rather it only strengthened her resolve as a feminist critic of media. Her numerous contributions to the field of feminists have been recognized by numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian, a media journalist who has received several awards and founded Feminist Frequency as an educational nonprofit that studies the way women are depicted in the popular culture stories.
