Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born 15 September 1915, in Ogden Utah. Her family was part of the Mormon Church's very first family, Fawn McKay directed her ingenious talent for writing and her impressive research skills to creating the brilliant psycho-historical biography of Joseph Smith, published in 1945. It was entitled:"No Man knows My History. Its title came from an 1844 funeral eulogy delivered by Joseph Smith. The speech stated: "You didn't know me or my heart. Nobody knows my story. I cannot tell it. Fawn was a 29-year-old Fawn. From that point more than three writers have taken on the challenge. A lot of them have denigrated him and some have deified him; a couple have even tried their hand at clinical diagnosis it is not the case that these documents lack it is rather that they're in complete contradiction. This is the task--to separate the first hand account from the third hand plagiarism and to blend Mormon accounts with other religions to create an authentic historical mosaic. It's a fascinating and instructive experience. Fawn brodie devoted herself professionally in this endeavor. Her research and writing immortalized her with the world's attention: Thaddeus Stevens.
